Designed for retrofit and new build applications, Black Mountain wool insulation is the ideal hydroscopic natural insulation for dry lining internal/external walls, insulating the roof and all areas of a timber frame construction.

Specified to meet and surpass Part L of the Building Regulations with reference to Thermal, Fire, Mould Resistance and Structural performance, Black Mountain insulation uses 100% virgin wool sourced from UK and Ireland, combined with up to 15% adhesive to bond the fibres together to maintain its thickness over the long life of the product.

Environmental Information

The manufacture of Black Mountain insulation requires 90% less energy to manufacture than mineral wool insulation. In use, the durability and moisture control properties of wool allow for a higher level of performance and longevity – retaining its insulating properties for the life of the building. Wool is treated with boron salts so as to heighten its vermin and insect resistance for the life of the product.

Fire Standards

Wool is naturally fire retardant; the material only chars since there is insufficient oxygen in the atmosphere to support combustion of wool. In the event of a fire, wool will not add to the fire risk and produces no toxic gases.
